A child named Judy, was diagnosed with Autism when she was 7 years old. Now she's 10 yrs old, and she is experiencing serious problems in class. Yes, here Parents decided that inclusion was the best solution to Judy's social limitations but did not have a strategy moving forward. Judy attends the Acorn Elementary School in Westampton, NJ. She is in 4th grade, and she is having a serious problem with maintaining focus during instruction. Acorn Elementary School has already met with Judy's Parents, and the school staff is well aware of the specialized supports that Judy needs to assist her. However, Judy's Parents just attended a meeting with Judy's home room teacher, and principal. Both parties agree that Judy should be held back in 4th grade to repeat it because their belief is that Judy should be able to do better. To make matters more challenging, Judy's Parents requested therapeutic assistance for Judy in the classroom. Her Parents were told that due to budget cuts, therapeutic assistance would be nearly impossible for Judy.

Well, Judy's Parents accepted the schools perspective on this matter, and accepted the school's opinion. As a result, Judy is repeating the 4th grade, and it's not that she can't do the work, it's just that the school doesn't want to take anymore funds out of their budget to assist Judy because it may effect their personal salaries. So, Judy must accept that she has control over her academic destiny, and continue to be penalized because she has a developmental disability.

The NJ Behavior Support Services is a non-profit organization that provides behavior support services, outreach programs, and transitional opportunities to disabled individuals, and individuals with criminal convictions. We also provide behavior support services to children without a clinical diagnosis. Our purpose is to facilitate the process of positive change in individual behavior.
Our organization has four effective components:

1.)    The Life Teachers 4 Life Outreach Program
2.)    Behavior Support Services for children & adults
3.)    Occupational Outreach Program (OLAP)
4.)    Dignity Empowerment Network (DEN)

The Life Teachers 4 Life Outreach Program is designed to employ convicted felons with an opportunity to sharing their life changing experiences with youth of all ages. Life Teachers 4 Life enables formally incarcerated individuals to encourage youth to make positive daily decisions that will prevent them from entering into the criminal justice system. Initially, we screen individuals to confirm their current status. After our screening process, they receive specialized training on particular topic.  We train individuals, and teach them how to give a positive presentation. After successful preparation, our individuals are offered job opportunities as presenters at schools, and correctional institutions. Typically, our presentations have a duration of: 30-45 minutes. Our organization accepts charitable donations from $1.00 to $1,000,000.000. We kindly encourage all entities to donate. Your support will be greatly appreciated, and goes a long way !  We charge a small minimal fee to facilitate the total number of presentations are requested. Academic institutions or others may contact us to receive a negotiated rate based on the number of presentations needed.
